Populating your Sims 3 World

I like to create my OWN world in Sims 3. Like starting off with a super empty world, then I make ALL rabbit holes, bars, houses, parks etc. It’s really, really fun and you’ll end up valuing your world more because you exerted effort.

Only, I have one big problem. Of course, if I make a world, besides the Household I want to play with, I have to create the neighbors also; otherwise the world will be empty with NPCs only and 1 employee for every rabbit hole. So there I go making families. Then I noticed that families only get 16k simoleons or so, which won’t let them move in nice houses. That’s why I looked for ways to do it.

Two ways: the long process and the short one.

THE LONG PROCESS

You do this when you haven’t moved your Household into the world. Otherwise your Sim’s Wishes will be gone and their lifespan will be affected.

1. Create a house in a residential lot and furnish it. Neighbors don’t buy their own furniture, apparently. If you move a Household in an unfurnished lot and your Sim goes to their house in Live mode, there won’t be any furniture. Also, take note of how much the lot is.
2. Create your household. You’ll notice your household only has around §20000 and may not afford the lot.
3. Find a small, empty residential lot. Build a cottage or just a box of walls with a roof. You don’t need to put doors, paint etc, but if you want you may.
4. Move your Household in the cottage.
5. Make them rich. Press Ctrl + Shift + C and type kaching for §1000 motherlode for §50000. Give them enough money so they can afford the place you want them to move in to.
6. In Map View, evict your neighbors. They will appear on the left side of the screen.
7. Click the thumbnail and place them in the house you want.
8. Repeat.

It’s called the long process coz there’s too much loading haha.

THE SHORT PROCESS

You do this when you've moved your Household into the world and realized there are few neighbors. This won’t affect your current Household and Sim’s/s’ Wishes and lifespan.

1. Look for a rich household already in your world, with net worth of about §100000, or whatever depending on the price of houses you plan to build or houses you have in your world. If you don’t have one, you can go to other worlds like Sunset Valley or Bridgeport or Starlight Shores etc. Place a copy of that household in your library.
2. Back in your world, create the house from Map View and furnish it. Create your neighbor household. Notice that your neighbor household may not afford the house you built.
3. Move the rich household in to the house you built. They should be able to afford it.
4. Move your neighbor household in with the rich household and merge. They should be able to move in.
5. Split the household. Keep the neighbor Sims on the left side, the original rich Sims on the right.
6. Delete the evicted rich Sims that will appear on the left of the screen after splitting. Notice they only have little money left.
7. Repeat from step 2.

Enjoy Simming!
