The good life and the evolutionary human

"The goal of life is not to eliminate misery. It's to keep misery at a minimum."

I agree with Dr. House when he said this.
I mean, no one wants to b miserable, no one wants negative stuff. But a completely good life will turn you into a vegetable. I only know a few people who really like challenges, but I believe that deep down inside the rest of those people they secretly or subconsciously want the rough side of life.

I believe it's an evolutionary thing. Inasmuch as living or surviving means you are optimal for the environment, no challenge means no drive for improvement, and with no drive for improvement comes with no improvement. And we all know that those who don't improve get left behind. That's just nature.

Humans have optimal levels for everything. Get little or no sleep, your head hurts. Get too much sleep, you feel fatigued. Eat a little, you get hungry very soon and your stomach hurts. Eat too much, you feel tired and your stomach hurts. Generally, too much positive stuff will lead most humans to believe that "life is good and will always be good", therefore no change. Same thing, too much negative stuff will lead them to think that "life is miserable and will always be, therefore, change for what?" A certain level of la bonne vie and la mauvais vie (the good life and the bad life) is what works best.

Finally, personally, I believe that this is one of the ultimate drives of the evolutionary human for it explains why we tend to go far out for experiences. Deep down, all of us wants to experience misery because according to our lineage, it was misery that helped us survive and let us experience la bonne vie.

Ughh. Too much Richard Dawkins. Hahahaha
