WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY
Happiness. Wise men and women
say it is the goal of all life and humanity to find lasting contentment,
satiety of needs and wills and liberation from worldly sadness and loneliness.
The search for happiness is the drive for all reasonable and human acts. Some
people go through a lot to attain its truest forms. Since we all have a
subjective view upon life, we also differ in the ways with which we seek, bask,
and share it.
For the sake of coherence, we
may want to define the term first. On my personal account, I believe that
happiness is not merely, “I'm happy because I am able to do what I want”, but
is more of “I'm happy because I am able to do what I want and, being able to,
takes me a step closer to reaching my full potential as a human being”. This
may be a general concept, but personally I take it seriously, and my view on it
gives me a direction towards fulfilling the human goal of happiness.
Personally, I believe that
almost everything that happens in my life can make me happy, because all that
happens to me gears me towards my full being. It makes me happy to know that I
have experienced things in life, good and bad, and all of it are trying to create
a new me in me every time. I find happiness in things that let me know I was
wrong, and then giving me a chance to be better at next time. I seek
contentment in the reality and idea of change towards fullness of being, unique
in every way possible but still one with other life/non life. I enjoy and share
this fullness with others through support and help directed towards people so
that they themselves can find and share in this most sought-after idea and
reality that is happiness.
In conclusion, our different
realities help shape our idea of happiness, but the mere search for it is
humanly universal. We may have different depictions, but its mutual meaning in
its drive towards full human potentiality remains a constant with which all
converge and act singly headed for the ultimate goal of life that is true
happiness.
